7. V(ma) Notes

The following are some additional notes of interest regarding the V(ma) Comparative Analysis System:

7.1 Main Spreadsheet

The Main Spreadsheet is a virtual workhorse. It contains 1. A 14 by 76 Matrix of Parameter Options which enable a user to define specifications for 7 different standard Vectorgrams and their corresponding slide presentations. They include such options as

- vector thicknesses, which attributes are to be displayed alongside the vectors such as ranks, original scores, weighted scores, criteria guide lines,
- default zoom percentages,
- color selections,
- print specifications and titles
- items to be hidden or displayed - hierarchical levels to be generated and/or displayed etc.

2. The core of the spreadsheet below row 16 contains: - The detailed scoring information for each Alternative and Benchmark for every entity Node or EndPoint entity in the Hierarchy including the names of the winning Alternatives for every Node and Endpoint and the relative rank positions of the losers. - The scores of each Node and Endpoint
1. in raw inputted decimal (as well as Symbolic), unweighted, unprioritized form,
2. in just prioritized form and
3. in full weighted prioritized form

3. A complete two way mapping of the Hierarchy which enables migration, up, down and sideways.

4. A series of viewing toolbuttons that allow the observer to focus in on just the information of interest regarding the Alternatives’ and Benchmark performances.

5. The ability to collapse or expand the Hierarchy to requested levels.

6. To migrate from specific Nodes or Endpoints to their related Vectorgrams and from there to their related positions in the Voting Matrix, the Criteria Smry Sheet, and the Sorted sheet(which is a sorted version of the main spreadsheet by Percentage of Contribution.

7. The Prioritized Only Percentages of Contribution in relative and absolute form and the fully weighted Percentages in relative and Absolute form.

8. The ability to create a "Values Only" version of the main spreadsheet for personal sorting by the observer.

Because of the possible need to zoom in for more detail, all of this pages examples will be in PDF form. The first figure shows the main spreadsheet as it is most frequently used for reviewing the performances of the Alternatives and their Benchmarks.

It shows 1. The weighted Absolute and Relative (to the Parent Node), Percentages of Contribution,

2. The inputted Importance Weights,

3. The computed importance "Real Weights" (W/N where W= the Weight of Importance, and N = Norm of the Node's Wgts of Importance)
and then for

the Best in Class Benchmark and all the Alternatives in descending scoring ranks.

4. The Endpoint grades and scores or the Node's Relative Percentage score of the Referenced Benchmark or Alternative's score, and the Node's calculated score.
The Endpoint's grade cell contains the score produced from the Voting Matrix) the Endpoint's score for calculation is a copy of its grade's cell. This two-fold set of Endpoint scores provides the analyst with the ability to save the results of a complete calculation and then perform random reassignments of various EndPoint scores with "What if" scores, in decimal or symbolic form, and then call for a recalculation and if need be, to save the "What if" results as a "What if" separate file.

5. The rank of the Node or Endpoint follows. A zero indicates a unique winner across all Alternatives; a 1 indicates a tie with one or more Alternatives and 2, 3' etc behave the same way. i.e. there could by more than one 2, 3, etc.

Not shown are three more results. Namely,

6. The horizontal contribution toward the Alternative's total score. its total score must be the same as the total weighted score. 7. The vertical displacement 8. The unweighted prioritized contribution of the Alternative’s unweighted prioritized score. Its total score is the score for all the Endpoints and Nodes if their weighted scores were all equal. e.g. 1
